Overview

One of the best qualities to this game is its overall look and feel. The background is a picturesque Irish setting with a rainbow, butterflies, green castle, and yellow road in the background.

All of this combines to create a summertime / Wizard of Oz type feel that almost makes you want to quit playing and go outside, provided it's warm and sunny.

But while the atmosphere of Irish Eyes is certainly nice, it doesn't mean that the graphics are spectacular since they look average for a slot from 2010.

The symbols aren't very imaginative either, and the designers clearly went for stereotypical images that you'd envision when Ireland comes to mind. A leprechaun, red haired woman, yellow road, rainbow, four leaf clover, pot of gold, and generic letters are all seen on the reels.

One more point worth making about the lady and leprechaun is that they feature the best animations during winning pay lines. The lady winks at you while the leprechaun bangs his gold cane and coin together to send gold coins shooting towards you.

As for betting options, you can adjust the coin size from $0.02 to $5.00. This makes the smallest bet worth $0.02 per spin, and the maximum wager worth $125.00 when you max out pay lines and coin size.

Speaking of which, you can use Max buttons next to the pay lines and coin size to change them to the highest level. You'll also be able to use the auto play feature to keep the reels spinning for 5 to 500 spins with your selected betting options.

Bonus Rounds

Irish Eyes features two different bonus opportunities, including free spins and a Pick Me round.

12 free spins are awarded whenever you get three or more red haired ladies anywhere on the reels. These are just basic free spins that allow you to win some extra money, but one nice thing is that you can retrigger them by landing three more ladies.

The Pick Me bonus is triggered when you get leprechauns on reels 1 and 5. The leprechauns will stay on the reels as they are, and you pick one of the two to reveal your prize.

The maximum amount that you can multiply your bet by is 100x. So if you bet $0.50 or $1 per line, you'd earn a prize worth $50 or $100.

Unfortunately, we only got 5x our triggering bet the first time and 10x the second time, which is a bummer when you consider that the Pick Me round is hard to trigger anyways. It also took us a while to earn free spins too, meaning the bonus frequency seems pretty low.

Obviously neither of these bonus rounds is very in depth, and we wouldn't recommend that you play Irish Eyes solely for these features. But it's at least good that two types of bonuses were included.

Gamble Feature

The version of Irish Eyes that we played didn't have a gamble feature after winning payouts. However, the info screen suggests that you can gamble after winning rounds at certain online casinos.

If you've played many Amaya slots in the past, you may be familiar with the gamble feature setup. You can either choose if the card will be red or black to double your win, or choose the suit to quadruple your wager.

It seems like thousands of slots offer some variation of the double or nothing card bet. However, one bonus to this gambling feature is that you quadruple your win by guessing the right suit, which really boosts small pay outs when you're successful.

Comparison to Irish Eyes 2

Fueled by the popularity of the basic but pleasing Irish Eyes, Amaya released a sequel in 2014.

As you may have guessed, the graphics are far more detailed in Irish Eyes 2. The music and sound effects are also more prevalent since you hear nature sounds in the background any time you're playing and Irish flute music when you spin the reels.

The original version didn't have any music when the screen was static or when you spun the reels, only during animations and free spins.

You'll also hear tunes when you look at the pay table, which sounds like something from a renaissance festival.

The setting is also different in Irish Eyes 2 since this game takes place in a tree covered grove, rather than the sunny, open road in the first game. If you need a visual, the scene looks similar to a Thomas Kinkade painting with its rich colors.

One more notable difference is that many of the symbols have changed in Irish Eyes 2. The lady is back, this time as the wild symbol, but the leprechaun has been replaced by his hat. Other symbols include a gold tiara, tobacco pipe, and the pot of gold scatter.

A major downside to Irish Eyes 2 is that while you can still earn free spins just like in the original game, you won't find any other bonus features. In a highly detailed slot like this, you'd think that a second screen bonus game could have been added.

Taking everything into account here, we don't really think that the first or second Irish Eyes game has a big advantage over the other. Despite having the same theme, they each offer you different experiences.
