Week 6 Daily Fantasy Football Value Picks at DraftKings

Value could be harder to come by than ever in daily fantasy football in week six, as a ton of big names are seeing their price rise after five weeks of football. One needn’t look hard to see the salary cap hit, with Antonio Brown costing a whopping $10k at DraftKings this week.

Brown isn’t the only stud to demand top dollar, either, as four quarterbacks cost at least $7.5k, three tight ends are over $6k, seven defenses are over $3k, and five other receivers join Brown at over $8k.

We get a mild break with Brown being the only elite receiver to be priced over $9k this week, while just three running backs top the $7k price threshold.

While there could be some wiggle room in spots, a lot of the values we aimed to focus on going into week five have disappeared. That being said, we need to find the top value to take down big GPPs. In week five, guys like Martellus Bennett, Sammie Coates, Cameron Meredith and Adam Thielen all went nuts, yet none of them cost over $4k.

It’s not easy to lock in on values that success at that high of a level, but we have to try if we’re going big in giant GPP tourneys.

We did hit it big with a few value buys last week, as nods for Brian Hoyer, Philip Rivers, LeGarrette Blount, Jordan Howard, Hunter Henry and Gary Barnidge were good to great.

Let’s see what other value is on tap in daily fantasy football for week six:

Quarterbacks

• Blake Bortles – Jaguars ($6.3k)
• Marcus Mariota – Titans ($6.1k)
• Brian Hoyer – Bears ($5.8k)
• Brock Osweiler – Texans ($5.4k)
• Tyrod Taylor – Bills ($5.3k)

There is a good amount of value to be had at quarterback this week once you get past the elite options, as Blake Bortles is super cheap and gets a Bears defense that really hasn’t been imposing. He was rounding back into form in recent weeks, too, and a bye week may have him ready to take the league by storm again.

I might be a little more interested in Mariota than anyone else, seeing as he gets the Browns and they literally haven’t stopped anyone in 2016. Mariota got it going last week with four total touchdowns (30 fantasy points) and that could be the confidence boost he needs to crush this matchup.

Hoyer, Osweiler and Taylor could also all be in play. Hoyer has been on a tear as the new starter for the Bears, putting up 20+ fantasy points in each of his three starts. In week six he gets the Jags at home and they don’t do enough to make that a scary matchup.

Osweiler has been awful lately, but he’s bound to come up with a decent outing. A massive AFC South clash with the Colts this week could be just the spot to use him.

Tyrod Taylor has been just decent all year, but week six could be a great situation for him, as he gets a weak Niners team. Taylor is a dual threat and is developing his chemistry with guys like Robert Woods and Marquise Goodwin. It’s possible he gets Buffalo’s offense to new heights in this one, as the Bills chase their fourth win in a row.

Running Backs

• Devonta Freeman – Falcons ($5.6k)
• Theo Riddick – Lions ($5.3k)
• Carlos Hyde – 49ers ($5.1k)
• Jamaal Charles – Chiefs ($5.1k)
• Ryan Mathews – Eagles ($4.9k)
• Giovani Bernard – Bengals ($4.6k)

It’s never easy to feel good about a player against the Seahawks in Seattle, but we may be back to the point where someone like Devonta Freeman is matchup proof. Atlanta’s use of their running backs has been nothing short of impressive and whether he’s running or catching, Freeman looks like a must-play at just $5.6k.

Riddick came back to life in week five, catching two touchdowns and totaling 17 touches. Even with a down week four, this guys has managed 9+ fantasy points in every single game this year and constantly offers upside with his catching and explosiveness. You can safely fire him up against the Rams at home in week six.

The Niners absolutely stink, but one thing they do is use star running back Carlos Hyde all game, even when they’re getting dominated. That’s helped the talented back to top 23 fantasy points in three of five contests this year. That doesn’t lock him in as a stud against an improved Bills defense, but the value and upside still remains evident.

Jamaal Charles returned in week four and rested up during a bye this past week, and he finally may be ready for a big role in week six. With the other Chiefs running backs not really taking over the backfield, Charles should be back to his normal touches. If that’s even remotely the case, he’s an absolute steal and a must-play options at his absurdly low price.

Mathews and Gio need to be given a look going into week six, as well. Bernard stole the starting job from Jeremy Hill and could be a cheap, explosive option worth targeting moving forward, while Mathews continues to have a solid role and red-zone value for the Eagles.

Wide Receivers

• Will Fuller – Texans ($5.9k)
• Sterling Shepard – Giants ($5.6k)
• Allen Hurns – Jaguars ($4.7k)
• Sammie Coates – Steelers ($4.7k)
• Robert Woods – Bills ($4.2k)
• Cameron Meredith – Bears ($4.1k)
• Ted Ginn – Panthers ($3.9k)

Houston’s passing game has been pathetic the past few games, so there is an argument they finally snap out of their funk in a huge divisional clash with the Colts. Indy’s defense is not scary and Will Fuller has the speed that can kill. Firing him up at under $6k seems like a sound decision this week.

The same goes for Shepard, who has been very disappointing during the Giants’ recent struggles. Getting back on track against a solid Ravens defense won’t be easy, but Baltimore’s vulnerability does come through the air. Shepard needs to get it going eventually and week six feels like a spot that could see him working out.

Hurns has not really exploded yet in 2016, but he’s been consistently reliable ith 11+ fantasy points in three of his first four games. A big game is just around the corner, and it very well could arrive this week against a beatable Bears defense.

Coates is unlikely to go completely nuts in back to back weeks, but after dropping over 100 yards and two scores on the Jets last week, we can’t ignore him at this low price.

Woods, Meredith and Ginn are all worth a glance, as Woods remains Buffalo’s #1 receiver, Meredith shined in an expanded role and Ginn is due for a long touchdown. Ginn might be the most interesting of that trio this week, as he’s the cheapest and carries a ton of upside with Cam Newton due back in a potent showdown with a bad Saints defense.

Tight Ends

• Tyler Eifert – Bengals ($4.1k)
• Zach Ertz – Eagles ($4k)
• Zach Miller – Bears ($3.8k)
• Coby Fleener – Saints ($3.5k)
• Dwayne Allen – Colts ($3.1k)

Eifert was supposed to make his long awaited return from an ankle injury this week, but a setback with a back ailment kept him out. He could come back in week six, where he’d be very much needed in a huge clash with the New England Patriots. It’s tough to know what to expect of Eifert when he does return, but if he’s active he’ll be tempting due to a cheap price tag and immense red-zone upside.

Ertz was a disappointment last week in his return from a displaced rib, yet he climbs $500 in price at DK this week. That could actually be awesome for GPP play, as some could sour on Ertz due to his added salary and weak return. A date with the divisional rival Redskins could be a great spot to use him.

Zach Miller might be the best tight end value of week six, as he’s constantly involved in Chicago’s passing game and has recorded at least 10 fantasy points in each of his last three games. Brian Hoyer loves this guy, he’s cheap and there is even the revenge narrative as he faces his old team, the Jacksonville Jaguars.

We also need to consider Fleener and Allen, former teammates who both boast good prices and some NFL DFS upside. Allen has the lower ceiling most weeks, but he’s cheaper and seems to be a little safer. Fleener was big just two games ago, though, and in week six has a big date with the Panthers. Both of these guys could produce fireworks.

Defenses

• Los Angeles Rams ($2.9k)
• Houston Texans ($2.9k)
• Kansas City Chiefs ($2.8k)
• Green Bay Packers ($2.8k)
• Baltimore Ravens ($2.6k)

Defenses see a serious price spike going into week six, which may make it necessary to pay up for someone like the Bills (leading the way at $3.7k). If you prefer to dive, there luckily are some solid options below $3k, with the Rams leading the way.

Los Angeles was awful in week one and fell apart a bit last week against the Bills, but has still piled on 11+ fantasy points in three of five games. In week six they get a Lions team that has been erratic to start off 2016. They can get after the quarterback (9 sacks) so if they can rattle Matthew Stafford early, they have a chance to pay off.

The nice thing is you’re not spending much here, so these options don’t need to be elite – they need to survive. There’s an argument for the Chiefs, Packers and Ravens in that sense. Green Bay has not been amazing, but they’ve posted at least 5 fantasy points every week this year. The Ravens have done that in four of five games, while Kansas City has been a little more volatile (35 pts in week four and -2 in week five).

There’s also the Texans, who are in that same price range and haven’t been quite the same without J.J. Watt. Still, they’re playing a huge game against the Colts, who don’t run the ball all that well, don’t protect Andrew Luck and tend to turn the ball over. They carry risk, but this could be a good spot to give them a try.
