5 Teams the Buccaneers Could Trade Austin Seferian-Jenkins To
Tampa Bay Buccaneers tight end Austin Seferian-Jenkins may have just punched his ticket out of town. Already on thin ice due to a questionable work ethic and inconsistent performance, the once promising talent was arrested for driving under the influence on Thursday night and may not face a murky future.
Nothing appears imminent for the Bucs, who could still opt to keep Austin Seferian-Jenkins, but some type of discipline could be coming. A team that was already souring on the former Washington product may have just seen enough, however.

The Buccaneers opted to hold onto Austin Seferian-Jenkins ahead of the 2016 NFL season, but with Cameron Brate impressing over the summer, another mistake could easily have just got Seferian-Jenkins his spot with the team.
#Bucs' patience is running thin with Austin Seferian-Jenkins over his arrest. Might be out of chances in Tampa Bay if he's convicted of DUI.

An outright release is certainly plausible, but if the Buccaneers do plan to cut ties with their once prized tight end, they will likely attempt to get something in return via trade.
As troubled as Austin Seferian-Jenkins may be, there is no denying his talent or upside. Scouted as one of the top tight end prospects coming out of the 2014 NFL Draft, Austin Seferian-Jenkins boasts terrific size and above average speed and athleticism for the position.
Several teams could come calling, should it be made known that Austin Seferian-Jenkins could be had via trade. Here are five that make good sense:
New York Jets
The Jets are the first team that comes to mind that could really use a shot in the arm at the tight end position. New York gave up on young prospect Jace Amaro before the season started and all they have is a below average Kellen Davis at their disposal.
It’s a disappointing happening considering how stacked this Gang Green offense is elsewhere. Adding a big, athletic target like Austin Seferian-Jenkins could enhance their already strong red-zone offense, as well as take pressure off of Brandon Marshall and Eric Decker in the passing game, in general.
Houston Texans
Houston is another team that has a questionable tight end situation. Ryan Griffin actually just caught eight passes in a bad week three loss, but he isn’t really the long-term answer and it’s highly arguable the answer isn’t currently on Houston’s roster.
Most of the Texans’ tight ends just don’t have a knack for scoring or finding the right positioning – two things that happens to be strengths for Austin Seferian-Jenkins. With ASJ on board, Houston would be even more threatening through the air than they already are and it could help avoid shutout stinkers like we just witnessed on Thursday Night Football.
Green Bay Packers
Something hasn’t been right in Green Bay for a while, and though the reasoning can stretch a number of different ways, one issue has been the tight end spot.
Richard Rodgers is more of a blocker than anything else, while free agent acquisition Jared Cook to this point has been a huge bust. That isn’t to say trading for Austin Seferian-Jenkins would solve their issues, but he certainly would give the team a big, athletic target. It’s fair to say Aaron Rodgers could use another one of those.
Los Angeles Rams
It’s worth wondering if the Bucs would even be interested in trading Austin Seferian-Jenkins to a fellow NFC team, but as long as the team isn’t in the NFC South, we feel they’re probably fair game.
That could put the Rams on the map, who have Lance Kendricks and little else at tight end right now. They haven’t had a reliable provider there for years, either, so they could jump at the possibility of getting a talented option like Austin Seferian-Jenkins for a cheap price.
The Rams don’t seem too consumed with improving their offense at the moment (which is weird for a team that has yet to score any type of touchdown in 2016), but perhaps they should be. If their stance changes, adding a talented tight end like Austin Seferian-Jenkins could become something they pursue.
San Francisco 49ers
One other team with a shaky tight end situation is San Francisco. Vance McDonald has been a bust to this point, and while he’s scored twice on the year, he just isn’t an overly efficient or reliable option.
Worst case, the 49ers bring in another talented body like Austin Seferian-Jenkins and let the two compete. Chip Kelly knows all too well what Austin Seferian-Jenkins is capable of from his days in the Pac-10, so if Austin Seferian-Jenkins becomes available, it wouldn’t be shocking to see him become interested in pulling off a trade.
It’s still possible the Buccaneers don’t even trade Austin Seferian-Jenkins. They could cut him, or they could give him one more chance to make up for his mistakes and fulfill his potential on the field. Still, if Austin Seferian-Jenkins is headed out of town, these five spots are likely his best potential destinations.
