Craps Strategy Guide
If you spend any time talking craps to your friends, you'll eventually come across someone who has heard of some fool proof system or another that is supposed to make you a guaranteed winner. Craps is an exciting and popular casino game and as such, it's probably the casino game with the most myth surrounding it.
No matter what you hear, craps is one of those casino games in which the house has an unbeatable advantage. There is no secret system or combination of bets out there that can give you an edge. If there was some secret system, the casinos would have found out about it years ago.
Now that we've got that out of the way, I have some good news for you. There are certain craps strategies you can employ to make the most of your money at the casino. The house will always have the advantage in craps but if you play smart, you'll lower the house edge quite a bit and give yourself the biggest chance to walk away a winner.
Stick with the Good Craps Bets
There are tons of craps bets out there but the house advantage differs by quite bit from bet to bet. The best craps bets offer the house an advantage of just 1.41%. With such a small house advantage, you're almost a coin flip to walk away a winner. The bet I'm talking about is the "pass line bet."
The "don't pass" bet is also a great bet with a house advantage of just 1.36%. The only problem with this bet is that it can easily irritate everyone else at the craps table. If you really value extracting every single penny's worth of expectation possible, to the point of upsetting an entire craps table, you probably wouldn't be playing craps in the first place.
After the come-out roll, you can improve to an even better craps bet: The Odds Bet. This bet isn't marked on the craps table but you are allowed to make it. All you have to do is place an additional bet next to your original pass line bet after the come out roll.
Some casinos only allow odds bets that are equal to your original pass line bet but many online casinos allow you to double your pass line bet. The odds bet is awesome because it offers a 0% house advantage. That's a rare thing in the casino so take advantage of the odds bet every chance you get.
Practice Self Discipline
A part of being a smart online craps player is practicing bankroll management and knowing when to quit the game. You should treat your online craps bankroll separate from all your other personal finances because, as you know, nothing is guaranteed in the casino world.
Smart craps players give themselves a specific bankroll and only play with that money. They only set aside a specific amount of money and stick with it. If they run out of money, they wait until they have extra money again. The biggest no-no in a smart gambler's mind is to gamble with money that was reserved for other uses.
Another thing smart online craps players do is give themselves time limits for playing. They will set aside a certain amount of time and quit playing when the clock says its time to stop playing, no matter whether they are up or down money. One of the worst things a craps player can do is spend extra time at the tables trying to play catch-up.
Avoid "Fool-Proof" Systems
A quick search on the internet will reveal dozens of websites trying to sell so-called "fool proof" craps systems. No matter how persuasive some of these websites may be, they are scams. Every single last one. The only person in the world who wins at craps over the long run is the owner of the casino.
Trust me - guaranteed-to-win craps systems do not exist. If some guy on the internet knew how to make $130 an hour with craps (or whatever he claims to make), do you really think he'd give his system away for "just" $32 and risk the casino finding his system? Of course not!
