Craps Advanced Bets

The game of craps is one that involves many ways of betting and even more strategies to make those bets. As you may already know, the 4 basic types of bets a player can make in craps are player bets, line bets, single roll bets, and multi roll bets.

In order to make it more confusing for the player, however (and to ultimately try to maximize revenue), casinos break each of those standard bets into multiple types. These different types of bets will be explained in the following paragraphs.

Player Bets

There is only one type of player bet in the game of craps. This bet is known as the "Fire Bet." A fire bet isn't allowed in all casinos, but when applicable it works like this. The value of a fire bet is generally $1-$5. Players make this bet thinking that the upcoming shooter will do well in terms of setting and getting points of different values, and a lot of them. Specific rules at each casino will be posted at the tables.

Line Bets

The basis of all line bets is that they are all based around points. When in the shooter position, it is a requirement to make either a pass line bet or a don't pass bet if you'd like to shoot, or roll the dice. The pass line bet is one of the most basic bets in the game. The pass line bet is won if A) the come-out roll is a 7 or an 11, and B) the come-out roll creates a point, and that point is rolled again.

The pass line bet is lost when A) the come-out roll is a 2, 3, or a 12, and B) if a point is established and a 7 is rolled before the point is rolled again. The don't pass bet is the opposite of the pass line bet; except for the fact that rolling a 12 is a draw. Another type of bet is known as the "Come Bet." The come bet follows the same rules as the pass line bet in all aspects; however, this kind of bet can only be made after the come-out roll.

Single Roll Bets

Single roll bets are pretty self-explanatory. Their results are based on one roll by the shooter, and include the following rolls. 2, 3, 11, 12, 2 or 12 hi-lo, Craps, C&E, half on craps, half on yo (11), Any Seven, The Field, The Horn, Whirl or World.

Multi Roll Bets

Multi roll bets in the game of craps are bets that are made that might not be settled on the first roll, hence, multi roll. The first type of bet is known as the hard way. A hard way roll is when both dice show up with the same numerical value (doubles). The opposite of the hard way roll is the easy way. This is the same except for the fact that in order to get a 4, the dice would have to read 3 and 1, rather than double 2's in the hard way.
